ROPES
COURSE/RAPPELLING
The Ropes Course and Repelling Course is an
exciting addition to the activities available at PWI. The Ropes Course, built
by Project Adventure, was designed within the natural surroundings of the
forest. The low ropes consist of elements such as The Whale Watch, Islands, and the Mohawk Traverse. The high ropes are made
up of elements such as the Pamper Pole, 250' Zip Line, and the Dangle Duo.
Students progressively work toward the more difficult elements on a self based
level. Self-reliance as well as teamwork is emphasized while building trust.
The ropes course directly builds self-esteem in our students, which is sorely
lacking. Once the Ropes Course is mastered, students are allowed to proceed to
the Rappelling curricula. Our 63' rappelling tower teaches students the proper
safety measures of rappelling. After mastering the basis skills, students
embark upon field trips gradually increasing the height of their rappels.
PWI's ropes course instructors
are certified and have been trained by Project Adventure and AMI. The Ropes
Course and the Rappelling
Tower are available for
community and corporate use at a nominal fee. If interested, please contact us
at PWI Ropes Info for details.
