LIFE
SKILLS
The Life Skills Curriculum is extremely important to our students. Many have not been given the basic training or experience in proper skills needed for life. Restorative independent living skills such as personal hygiene habits, social skills development, behavioral and attitudinal management are taught and practiced. Areas addressed are anger management, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills. Personal finance and budget management are also introduced. Mental wellness and HIV awareness are also taught. Employability skills are introduced teaching students the correct ways of completing applications and interviewing for employment. Life skills training is incorporated in every aspect of the program as behavior is addressed regularly and personal counseling is given by the instructors and teachers. An Individual Treatment Plan is developed to aid each student in reaching specific objectives while in the program. Alcohol and Drug assessment and counseling is provided to all students by an outside agency.
Mr. George Mahida, a Master level Clinical Counselor, is responsible for the treatment aspects of the program. Any questions may be addressed to him at PWI-LCS1@amikids.org or phone (864) 833-4505.
